If you’ve ever felt like SEO is this giant, mysterious mountain you don’t have time to climb—you’re not alone. I talk to wedding planners and photographers all the time who know SEO is important but feel like they’d need a full rebrand, a tech degree, and about 80 extra hours a month to even start.
The good news? You don’t need an all-or-nothing approach. In this post, I’m sharing three simple, high-impact SEO tips that you can implement right now—without losing a whole weekend to your laptop. These small, strategic changes will help your site show up for more engaged couples in your area and start working harder for you. . . all while you keep doing what you love.
1. Optimize Your Page Titles & Meta Descriptions
Your page titles and meta descriptions are the very first things people see in Google search results—think of them like the headline and teaser text for your business. Yet so many wedding pros leave them blank, which does the exact opposite of what you want:
- Your website platform fills them in with something vague like “Home” or “Gallery”
- Your web designer automatically duplicated them from their design template and you never gave it a second thought
- Google uses its AI brain to fill them in with random bits of text it has scanned from your page
We don’t want to let any of those situations happen, do we? This quick fix is your #1 priority if you only have about an hour to spare.

You want each page to have a unique, keyword-rich title that matches what your ideal client is searching for—like “Chicago Wedding Photographer | Timeless, Joyful Imagery” instead of just “Home.” Make sure every page of your site is telling Google (and your dream clients) exactly what you do and where you do it. This is the key to writing an SEO-friendly blog post or website page!
And don’t skip the meta description. It’s your chance to write a short, compelling preview that makes people want to click. Include your service, location, and something that makes you stand out—then craft a meta description that reads like a mini ad for your business.
2. Add Keywords to Image File Names & Alt Text
Your wedding photos are gorgeous—but are they helping your SEO? Before you upload images to your site, give each file a descriptive name that includes your keywords. For example, instead of the straight-out-of-the-camera file names like “IMG_4739.jpg,” change them to “charleston-wedding-venue-spring-ceremony.jpg.”
(Pro tip—if you work on a Mac, you can do this in bulk in literally seconds inside your Finder! Simply select all the image files, then right click and hit “rename.” You can format them with your desired starting text and have them automatically assign ending numbers.)

Once your photos are uploaded to your website platform, add alt text describing the image in natural language. Alt text helps visually impaired users, but it also tells Google what’s in your photo, making it more likely to appear in Google Images and drive traffic back to your site. Don’t keyword stuff here—it’s better to honestly describe the image than to be salesy! For example, “Bride and groom kissing at their vineyard wedding ceremony in Napa” is both strategic and helpful. If you know it will be WAY too much of a time commitment to re-upload all your images to your website platform (in order to rename them), at least go into your website media library and add alt text to a few key images per page. Even just 5 images with good alt text on a page goes a long way, and it doesn’t take that long!
3. Refresh Old Blog Posts with Updated Keywords & Links
You don’t always have to start from scratch. One of the fastest SEO wins is updating blog posts you’ve already written—think of them as hidden gold mines. Go back to older posts, swap in fresh keywords based on what your clients are searching for now, and add links to your newer posts, galleries, or services. This signals to Google that your site is active and relevant, and it’s often faster than writing something brand new. Bonus: you’ll get more mileage out of the content you’ve already worked hard to create.
By now you know that I believe blogging is the #1 way every wedding pro can boost their SEO once their core website pages are optimized. Consistently publishing helpful content that shows off your work (and targets the keywords couples are searching for) is the best way to be found by your dream clients!
